Fair Haven:When I Turned To Steel

Smoke lies on the horizon
Storm clouds fill the air
Mountains in the distance
I sense something there
My words no longer serve me
Just voices in my head
Confused, I turn away
An icy calm becomes me

I close my book of dread

A long awaited silence
falls around instead

All that I ever wanted
was to know what time it was
when the moon came out
when the tides had changed
when I turned to steel

Nobody ever showed me how
to open up my heart
all that I ever saw were lies

Now that I'm in the middle
of a changing of the guard
all I see inside is a disguise
