February

I recently got this song on a compilation album, and it's amazing how well this bizarre song holds up after 15 years. Infectious enough that my 4-year-old likes it (plus it says "Dizz Knee Land"), and gloriously tongue-in-cheek with lyrics that do not match the upbeat tone of the music, this song strangely enough cheers me up, causes me laugh, and makes me want to go to Dizz Knee Land.
"Tell me, who's gonna love you when your looks are gone?" It's amazing that a songwriter that started with Art Garfunkel in 1964 could still be writing poignant and powerful songs 40-something years later. This song from his 2006 release Surprise is reminiscent of the songs from his Graceland and The Rhythm Of The Saints albums.
This song is for anyone who feels that the world is spinning out of control and causing them to lose it. (Yes, I'm talking to you, Britney!) Thickly layered Queen splendor with Freddie's wonderful vocals to share your madness with.
This song has absolutely everything a Muse song should have. An excellent intro, great riff and, especially in the live version from Glastonbury, and amazing solo. Classic :D.
These bitter, yet distinctively poetic lyrics about a sorrowful love is surely one of the masterpieces that have put Ana Carolina among the most successful current Brazilian singers.
This is the song I want to play at my funeral. It is a beautiful, poignant song that sings of love that lives beyond the singer.
This song is Über-romantic. Even if you don't like most love songs, you have to admit, this one is a classic.
Listening to this song still gives me goosebumps. Listen to it or watch the video. You'll know what I mean.
From the cult hit movie Highlander, this song looks at the downside of being immortal. How can one fall in love when they are immortal, only to know that any one they fall in love with will only die while they still live on? Freddie Mercury's simple yet haunting vocals really bring home first the anguish and then the special beauty such love can bring.
The "Fairy of French Music" has outdone herself yet again with Fleur De Saison. The imagery and concept are gorgeous, taking us through a flower's year-long journey. The accompanying video is equally as beautiful.
Since Kiefer recommended it, I've had this song on repeat for 80 plays! Due to the soft launch of Pedlr, I'm running on 5 hours of sleep out of the last 70... Who needs sleep!? :-D
Not a lot of country gets nominated here, but this one is darn funny and deserves a listen.
Pedlr is finally ready to rock!!
While you read this I'm in Cuba, enjoying my Piña Colada or my Mojito and listening to Cuban music, just like Orishas. This song was a major hit in Spain and through it I discovered a great band with many good songs. Enjoy this song, I'll be enjoying my sunbath.
This song is from one of the few American artists I listen to. This song in Japanese has beautiful lyrics about never forgetting her first love. The music and lyrics are soft and soothing and are a pleasure to listen to.
When I first listened to If Assholes Got Awards, I'd Have A Trophy Case I found myself addicted instantly. I was hooked by it's charm, beautiful lyrics and amazing instrumental parts and was further hooked by it's new and unique ska punk mix. This song is definitely worth checking out.
Nominated for Song of the Year at tonight's Grammys, this song seemed to be everywhere in 2006. Comedians spoofed it, the airwaves were filled with it, and many found Blunt's melancholy warbling of "You're Beautiful!" stuck in their heads whether they wished it to be there or not. The Grammy voters will have the final word, however.
I heard this song for the first time in a TV ad long before it was released. It's a very long song (18:29!), and mostly instrumental, but its strength caught me from the very first moment. Enjoy.
This song, made famous by Whitney Houston in The Bodyguard was first performed by Dolly Parton. I had never paid attention to this song's lyrics until somebody pointed them out and I have to say that Parton's original it's full of feeling and sadness just like the words.
A shout out to the old school folk trio that were the musical forerunners to the folk-rock singers of the 60s such as Bob Dylan and Simon And Garfunkel. This song, with each member getting a verse to sing solo, is about a love quadrilateral, with one girl and three suitors. Tongue-in-cheek presentation and that naughty, naughty girl named Sue.
A great rendition of the classic Rolling Stones tune. It's got great bass, and it's a hard rocker's dream.
I probably never would have found this song by modern folk troubadour Joe Purdy if I hadn't been editing here on LyricWiki. While he has had a half-dozen songs used on Grey's Anatomy and Lost, it is surprising that this song about loving someone you wish you didn't hasn't been used yet for some show's soundtrack. Try taking a listen at Joe Purdy's web site. (Click Music:Joe Purdy album:1st track)
Happy one-year anniversary on February 5, 2007 to the most wonderful man in the world. I've certainly had the time of my life for the last year, and I owe it all to you, my amazing love. I love you!
This is the best song on Ride the Lightning in my opinion, and one of Metallica's best overall. The chilling lyrics are about someone contemplating suicide, with the music getting progressively heavier as time goes by.
This song has beautiful lyrics about the wonders and freedom that the future holds, and how you can't return to the past. The song also has powerful music behind the lyrics. These things make it one of my favorite songs.
A "golden oldie", which is still just a pleasure to listen to (when listening to the song on the MySpace page, don't forget to listen to the guitar as well - gotta find out how to play that one of these days).
Although most have probably heard this song, it really deserves another listen because it never repeats itself musically. Bits of sound and music float in and out, mesmerizing the listener into believing that what's taking place is simple when it's not. Many of the techniques used on this song (and on its album) were further developed by producer Trevor Horn with his synthpop band, Art Of Noise.
