A beautiful melody that morphs from electronic noises to a catchy guitar line, slowly crescendoing all along.
Metallica was overdue for a nomination, and this song is solid.
A simple, emotionally heavy song about a boy, the girl he fell in love with that slowly dies of cancer, and the spiritual crisis and anger afterwards.
A good techno cover of a classic-rock song.
A nice, catchy, piano love song with an infectious melody and, of course, well crafted lyrics.
All the obvious reasons.
A very bittersweet song with deep lyrics. One of my all-time favorites.
This was mentioned in The Search and has a pretty interesting tirade in it.
Because people keep telling me this site is going to get sued into oblivion :P
This is a GREAT, f*ckin' GREAT song about drugs... And what they'll do to you...
I can't get this song out of my head, and I don't see how anyone could, with the amazing guitar chords, rhythmically mesmerizing bass line, ceaselessly pounding drums, and Maynard's voice crescendoing from a strain to a roar.
This song acoustics are simply amazing. It expresses love in an amazing and poetic form and makes me love love again!
Because "I felt like the biggest like the biggest asshole when I killed Rock 'N Roll", and because this song kicks ass!! I especially like the part where it goes "Every time I look in your eyes, every day I'm watching you die". This is a good song!
Because now I have a Abitur, a BMW and I am very schön :-P.
Leonard Cohen has the reputation of being one of the greatest song writers in the 20th century, up there with Bob Dylan and Neil Young. This song is one of his finer works, which has since been covered by people like Jeff Buckley, Damien Rice, Imogen Heap and more. It's an ambiguous song that could both be seen as religious and non-religious at the same time.
One of the greatest songs of all time.
You have to appreciate it when someone has incredible coding skills and other talents as well.
Fün song!
Seemingly about objectivism, though Ben Folds himself has provided a different (joke) answer about what the song is about. Either way, a strongly written song.
The song that got me into Gorillaz and the first music I bought without being pressured into buying it.
This song, with it's emotional lyrics and provocative imagery, is a triump of happiness and sadness.
A catchy and, as I see it, true song about speaking your mind. Say what you mean (and mean what you sing) or else it's just going to waste away.
I absolutely love this song! You can just feel the powerful emotion Eminem puts in this song. Its sad, moving and masterful. I, honestly, cried when I first heard this song. Its that sad and moving.
I just love this song... It is some kind of ska, rock, and Japanese traditional instruments mix, but it is so powerful... Maybe lyrics are not very well, but music is so good... I think it is the best song from Puffy I heard until now.
This heart wrenching progressive melody marked the end of the last Feeder album that the highly talented John Henry Lee worked on. Seen as a masterpiece by both music "nerds" and the audiophile community as a whole, it was so touching that many Feeder fans mistakenly see the album as a genuine tribute album. Featuring both haunting lyrics on Nicholas' part, and instrumentals to match, the song speaks of dedication, and apparent anguish and regret for a lost one.
I have had this song stuck in my head for days now, and I think it is wonderfully constructed. The lyrics are... well, Matt Bellamy, but the song is catchy and powerful.
A song that made System of a Down a popular band. It is by far one of their greatest songs, and one of my personal favorites.
