Talk:Earth Girls Are Easy (Original Soundtrack) (1989)
From LyricWiki
Just for those of you wondering what went missing from the soundtrack:
- Geena Davis - "The Ground You Walk On" — Davis' character Valerie sings this after throwing her boyfriend out of the house, while smashing his things. It was replaced by a Jill Jones version on the soundtrack.
- The B-52's - "Summer Of Love" (reissue) — When Valerie drives to work at the salon, the remixed version from Bouncing Off The Satellites plays on the radio. (Personally, I find the original mix, as found on Time Capsule, much more appealing.)
- Luis Restaurant's World - "Appliance Symphony" — This instrumental plays as the aliens explore Valerie's house and play with various objects they find. It was apparently disregarded for the soundtrack in favor of "Throb", which closer matches the examination room scene.
- Julie Brown - "I Like 'Em Big And Stupid" — This song appears in a deleted scene (available on the DVD release) when Candy and Valerie hit the town with their freshly-shaved aliens. Note that this is the Goddess In Progress original, not the better-known remix on Trapped In The Body Of A White Girl.
- Angelyne's "Animal Attraction" is heard during the convenience store scene. It is unknown if this song ever received a commercial release.
Some other things to note:
- The N's cover of "Earth Girls Are Easy" is not really a cover. Lyrics are wildly different, and about the only thing it has in common with the original is the chorus. It also appears on the soundtrack in a slightly different mix than what is heard in the movie (most conspicuous is the removal of the lead vocal from the choruses).
- As mentioned on the album page, The B-52's "Cosmic Thing" is incorrectly titled as "Shake That Cosmic Thing". This error has happened in other places, and possibly was the result of a last-minute change to use the song as a title track for the Cosmic Thing album.
- There are notable differences between movie and album on "Brand New Girl", including louder backing vocals, a missing bridge, and the replacement of Davis' "You know, I think she might be right!" line.
- Numerous snippets of other songs are heard, including The Laendler Bank's "En Alte Schwyzer", Meri D.'s "Un Corazon En Libertad", Carole Davis' "Body To Body", and even the themes to The Andy Griffith Show and Love Story.
