Talk:Joni Mitchell:Carey
From LyricWiki
Thanks to whoever took the trouble to write out the lyrics to this great song, however I am distressed at the number of people who do not understand basic grammar. Please note that the use of your (as in your a mean old daddy) is incorrect.
Your is intended to signify the posessive as in: Carey get out your cane (the cane belongs to him - therefore posessive).
What was intended was a contraction of the words "you are" and in that case, uses the apostrophe, so it should look like this: "you're a mean old daddy". You might think I am being picky but we need to protect our language, it is part of our culture. For whoever made this mistake - I don't blame you, I know that these days even school teachers who should know better are teaching this incorrectly to our kids.
Anyone who should happen to read this, please take note.

- If you see problems in the lyrics, you are able to edit them as much as you'd like. That is mainly the point of a wiki. --Giggity Griffin 00:08, 25 July 2007 (EDT)
- Also, the site was originally created by have a "bot" patrol the internet for song lyrics. It may have been the source was incorrect, not necessarily an editor here. As Giggity Griffin said above, feel free to edit this song or any others that need some work. Nobody around here will slap your wrist for making stuff better! Happy editing!--Jeff Saul (T-C-E) 09:02, 31 July 2007 (EDT)
