Main Page in Ukraine
I'd like to translate the main page into UA language. How can I do that? Oleh Bardiuk 05:19, 19 June 2008 (EDT)

the email confirmation does not work for me
Hello, I don't get a confirmation mail when requesting it, I already tried 2 different emailaddresses. Can anyone help me out please, thanks, --birdy (:> )=| 03:49, 29 August 2007 (EDT)
- We were having huge problems with spammers trying to use "Sent To A Friend" to send out spam (causing our server to get blacklisted). We appear to have fixed this now and our name should be off of the blacklists and email should be getting through dependably now.
- Note: I left a message for Spacebirdy on their is.wiktionary talk page

Songwriter credits
I see quite a few songs being credited to artists and not songwriters. I've noticed this with "Route 66" being "authored" by several different artists (all on several different sites), and only ONE of them with the correct lyrics (Nat King Cole's). The artists who perform the songs are not always the songwriters, and there needs to be a way to put that in. I went through and corrected all the different versions of the song (about 8 or 9 different pages) and changed the songwriter to reflect Bobby Troup's authorship of the song. 166.102.180.70 22:10, 12 September 2007 (EDT)
- The pages here are attributed to the artist that performed the song, which is why there are numerous pages with the same song. An additional section can be put on the page to add credits. Such as the lyricist and the composer. For an example, see Demon Hunter:Undying. --WillMak050389 22:57, 12 September 2007 (EDT)
- Information about adding credits can be found in the help section for song pages at Additional Song Information. It's important to have the pages sorted by artist because, as you see, popular songs are covered by many different artists (and may possibly have lyrics that are different than the original, as well.) There is a way to mark these covers, however, and that is by using the "cover" template. Information on that template is also found in the Additional Song Information section. Admittedly, not many contributors add a credits section, and if you could help fill in this void on those songs that you are familiar with, it would be a great help and definitely appreciated. --Kiefer

Send to a friend
The yellow background is a little distracting, as well as nonuniform according to the rest of the page design. I think the emboldened link and icon make it noticeable enough .. It could be changed to the same gray as an inactive tab (#fbfbfb), or a pastel blue/purple a la the linktext? I don't mean to nitpick, but it has stuck out to me since my first visit.. Very clean and nice otherwise. Only a thought, thanks. Oboro 08:54, 20 September 2007 (EDT)
- And there's some evidence against the belief that suggestions always go unheeded? Thanks a lot. Oboro 14:09, 23 April 2008 (EDT)
Google Search Bar, Why?
I love Google, I really do. But why replace a Wiki search bar with Google's? I wouldn't be complaining except that now, as far as I know, it is impossible to create pages with Japanese page names. Simply entering the text into my browser's URL bar doesn't work, because the parser interprets it incorrectly. The way to do this before was to search for the page you are trying to create, and then click the 'create this page' link that appeared in the results page. A workaround would be nice, but I just can't see why the searching was even changed. In all the Wiki's I have worked with, I have never had a problem with the search interface. Furthermore, searching through Google was already possible. ~ Wind Owl 23:49, 31 October 2007 (EDT)

ads
I absolutely loved when LyricWiki was ad-free, but I understood why Sean had to bring in the banner ads for the server fees. The problem I have is that the majority of the ads seem to of the dating sort. Even as i type this i am seeing "Asian Women" and "Dating Service". This is why I hate having to go to places like plyrics and I don't want to see LyricWiki go the same way. If we need the cash for server fees can we at least have some halfway decent/useful ads?-CladInShadows 22:38, 11 November 2007 (EST)
- It sure beats pop-up ads found on the other site. I would rather have that than more pop ups than I can click out of. 168.213.1.133 14:25, 5 December 2007 (EST)
- I agree with CladInShadows, some ads are not the ones you wanna find on a lyrics database. To avoid pop ups a pop up would do, so for me i don't see the difference to other site's with some unsuitable ads. Besides there is a similar project, which is completely add-free: www.lyriki.com —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 87.234.134.181 (talk • contribs) .
iTunes top 10
Those who have permission to edit the main page; please fix link to song no. 8. Jóna Þórunn 16:34, 26 December 2007 (EST)
- The problem is created by the iTunes feed (because it has square brackets in the title), to the best of my knowledge, there is no way that we can correct it. --WillMak050389 19:41, 26 December 2007 (EST)
Some changes to the layout
I noticed that the main page was wasting a lot of space under the left and right columns. Since I had some spare time, I made a test layout at Template:Main Page/Test. Comments would be appreciated before I clobber the main page.

Requested Lyrics
I am new to LyricWiki.org and I just wanted to know if there is a page where users can request for lyrics that haven't already been uploaded, as there is one in Wikipedia for articles that haven't already been written. --Pabletex 16:25, 3 May 2008 (EDT)
I could not find a page where I could request for lyrics. I moved to Dubai recently and found a lot of independent artists down here. I remember watching an artist "Sabature" preforming and would like to request his lyrics for the song "Neverland" that he preformed. He did mention he had a wordpress page and a myspace but I cant find them since those resources are blocked on my company server. --Independentartists 04:19, 7 July 2008 (EDT)
There should be a section created where we could request for lyrics and new artists to be added in specific sections. --Independentartists 04:39, 7 July 2008 (EDT)

SOTD
I noticed the SOTD changed to "Hocus Pocus" by Focus for June 3, but it's switched back to "On Every Street" by Dire Straits, the SOTD from June 2. Can someone fix that? --Cubs Fan2007 18:04, 3 June 2008 (EDT)
- It wasn't me, I swear! :-] It appears to have fixed itself, although when I tried to check on the actual SOTD template, it still showed the Dire Straits SOTD. There's still a little server weirdness to be sorted out and updated, I guess. Kiefer talk contribs admin 22:58, 3 June 2008 (EDT)
Get Garbage characters when using the WSDL service
I use a small python script to get the lyrics.
#!/usr/bin/env python
# -*- coding: UTF-8 -*-
import urllib
from ZSI import ServiceProxy
artist = "陶喆"
title = "小镇姑娘"
wsdlFile = "http://lyricwiki.org/server.php?wsdl"
lyricServer = ServiceProxy.ServiceProxy(wsdlFile)
lyrics = lyricServer.getSong(artist=urllib.quote(artist), song=urllib.quote(title))['return']["lyrics"]
print lyrics
But in the output all the Chinese characters are garbage characters.Could someone tell me why and how to solve this?It used to work just fine. Yegle 12:24, 12 June 2008 (EDT)
