Stub pages
Just wondering why Tenth_Hour_Calling was marked as a stub? Is this a policy thing, or a bot problem? --TrevorP 00:51, 31 January 2007 (EST)
- This was a bot thing; all pages with fewer than a certain number of lines got marked as stubs when Janitor reformated the Artist pages.

- Thanks, been away for a while, Just wanted to make sure I wasn't treading on any toes when I removed it.

Thanks and Suggestion
Thanks, I'll start reviewing lyrics for music I own and removing tags, I've already been editing. Also, I am seeing a lot of pages that do not have the album info in the {{song}} tag, a bot might be useful, is there a bot community that one makes requests of? Intelligence3 18:40, 29 July 2007 (EDT)
- Not really, perhaps you can ask User:Janitor, but I think fetching album info automatically is hard. Thanks for the work you have been and will be doing! --Mischko

- If I were to do it, and I kind of already was thinking of doing it, then I would use the 'What Links Here' to get the album(s) the song is on. I think that the most difficult part making sure that all the songs that need to be processed, get processed. When I have time, I'll look into it.

Bikini Kill
What is with your edits to Bikini Kill? You really need to stop--Dejavula 18:40, 1 September 2007 (EDT)
- This user is my bot. I'm currently doing somewhat of a shotgun blast type edit of the wiki, affecting several hundred/thousand pages. The songs being added are orphaned in that they are not linked to by any page. So I am having the bot add them to the artist's page and leaving it to humans to sort out the duplicates. So instead of deleting the links, please mark the pages with {{Deletion}} and I (or another administrator) will take care of deleting them.
- Sorry for making a mess.

Okay thank you!--Dejavula 19:01, 1 September 2007 (EDT)
Duplicate "Other Songs"
Hiya,
Thanks for updating Orphaned pages! I noticed a bit of a bug with it though. It appears that fairly regularly, the songs are getting added both in the Other Songs section that is already on the page, and in a new Other Songs section (so there will be two "Other Songs" sections now). Here is an example. I also ran into it on Nelly Furtado, so I assume it's a more general problem.
Thought I'd let you know,

Yeah I want to second that, it's really annoying. --BrianPT 12:45, 10 March 2008 (EDT)
Duplicate Other songs section
In Mizuki Nana's section --- Other Songs
ヒメムラサキ is in WILD EYES' single ,it's not an orphanage song.
Adding songs like mad
Hello there, I've doing a lot of work on the Scorpions page. About a week ago I reduced the Other Songs Section from 42 to 12 pages.
But this bot ust added over 150 Songs again to that Section. And 99% of them are already on the list...
This bot might be a cool thing but i think it's not necessary anymore. At least not for the Scorpions. Is there anyway to turn this Bot off just for this page??

What are you doing on the page of Dir en grey?
You have put a lot of songs there as Other Songs.
But the songs have already been listed above.
Can't you see that?
Your action doesn't make sense.
- やれやれ... Well, this is a bot and is only putting songs there that are not linked from anywhere else, so yes, there will be duplicates. And this will probably never change as it cannot tell if two songs with different titles are actually two different songs or if they are the same song with a misspelled name. So when I wrote this bot, I had it add them to the other songs section and let humans sort the songs. This way we don't end up with a ton of songs not attached to anything.
- And by the way, cursing will not get you anywhere. And it hurts, and not help, your argument.

Umm, I understand the point, but the system looks breaucratic, not smart.
Probably it is a sort of problem and makes this site disgusting...
Anyway, I'm sorry for using bad words.
Crimson Thorn
hey man, i deleted Unearthed For Dissection 'cause it wasn't complete (only the first disc was there, that's Unearthed and a part of plagued) so i separated the songs into Unearthed and Plagued (all songs of Plagued WERE complete) so i deleted it again. no offence, but it's just not so handy ;)...
Other song section
Just wondering why do you keep adding Other Song Section in Ali Project section. First of all, the songs you adding there are already present in the body of the page, in one case it is a link that is already there, and in other - a link to a copied song to already existing one. I would understand it if songs were not already there and categorized, but like this it's just creepy.
Bot and clearing
Janitor doesn't like old-style (<div style="clear:both;"></div>) clearing. It wouldn't be bad, if old construction were replaced to, say, {{clear}}; but bot inserts this (</> replaced by lt/gt): <div style="clear:both;"></div> , and ruines all formatting (at least for some browsers). See revision of such 'editing' for illustration, --Senvaikis (talk) 07:06, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
Failure to add moved songs to Other Songs
I recently moved/redirected everything from Pogues to The Pogues, expecting that Janitor would add the moved pages to The Pogues' Other Songs section. It never did (though it fixed two double redirects the next morning). The same happened when I moved several songs from Hammill Peter to Peter Hammill. Could that be because moving didn't change the song template, which still has the wrong artist name? -- 6 times 9 11:41, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
- That is not a bug, but rather a weakness of Janitor's function. Janitor operates by going through all of the pages at Special:Lonelypages, looking for pages that should be re added. If a page has a redirect to it, it will not appear on Lonelypages. Do you know what songs should have been added, or were there too many?
- King_Nee1114 (talk page • contributions • deletions) 13:59, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
- In the case of The Pogues the latter, unfortunately. (I already added the Hammill songs manually.) So I guess the proper procedure would have been to move the pages and add the links manually? Or would it be possible to somehow have "semi-lonely" pages with only redirects linking to them added to Lonelypages as well? (I have no idea at all how these things are programmed, so I don't know how much work that would be.) Thanks for your answer -- 6 times 9 14:08, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
- I can probably work on The Pogues, I have a few tricks up my sleeve. Otherwise, yes, add the links manually.
- As for 'semi-lonely'...I have been thinking of the same thing lately. I will discuss with teknomunk, and maybe he can come up with something (he is our resident code ninja, hence the bot and everything). Thanks for pointing all this out.
